Rambert, London
Mark Baldwin’s imagination has turned to science in recent works, and his latest for Rambert, The Strange Charm Of Mother Nature, is very much on trend. Inspired by the discovery of the “God particle”, its intricate patterning and vivid energies mimic the design of the universe. Also premiering in Rambert’s new mixed bill is a long overdue commission for Shobana Jeyasingh, a chance to see her meticulously rhythmic style with Rambert’s excellent dancers. Terra Incognita draws on modern urban legends and ancient cartography to consider the perils of journeying into the unknown and is set to music by Gabriel Prokofiev.

A Lyrical Dance Concert, Brighton
Gillie Kleiman and Sara Lindström take inspiration from the lyrics of hit pop songs for their new show, which is part dance, part cabaret, part karaoke. Finding the absurd, the playful and the provocative in songs from Mariah Carey to Jay Z, the two women perform these lyrics to their own dances, encouraging the audience to join them in a mashup of disco diva, air guitar and gangsta rap that questions some of the social and political subtext of well-known lyrics. Tickets to the Brighton show also include the price of dinner, along with a performance of Body Not Fit for Purpose, a fusion of music, philosophy and dance by Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion.
