"Godzilla vs. Kong"

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of creature violence/destruction and brief language.

What it’s about: Two cinematic titans clash in this matchup of epic proportions.

The kid attractor factor: The big, colorful spectacle and beloved characters will draw younger audiences to this blockbuster (in theaters and on HBO Max).

Good lessons/bad lessons: There are lessons here about the deviousness of corporate behavior, and the importance of finding home, but mostly, this is about watching Godzilla and Kong face off.

Violence: Hong Kong turns into a real smash-em-up city as Godzilla and Kong do endless amounts of structural damage. Of course the human scale is not really taken into account.

Language: Some brief strong language.

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: A fun and visually exciting blockbuster featuring these well-known movie monsters. Okay for teens and older kids but too scary for little kids.

For more Godzilla fun, HBO Max has quite a selection of Godzilla films ranging from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, as well as the King Kong films, including the 1933 and 1976 films. Those would be fun to watch as preparation or after "Godzilla vs. Kong" and might be a bit less scary for smaller kids to boot.
