The derelict Speedwell Swimming Pool has now been torn down - but striking footage has emerged showing the latter-day state of the historic building.
Urban explorer Dylan Rhodes scaled the walls of the 82-year-old institution, jumped through a hole in the roof and filmed what he saw inside.
The pool, shut in 2005 but fondly remembered by generations of Speedwell swimmers, could be seen containing rubbish, rubble and even a tent, while graffiti adorned its walls.
In a written post accompanying his film, Mr Rhodes said: “The place is trashed and falling apart so wouldn't recommend going in, but it's cool to experience the history of the many years of activity that place has had since it opened.”
Among the remnants of the building’s heyday that are visible in the seven-minute video is a sign stating: ‘No armbands beyond this point’.

Developers now plan to build 31 affordable homes across a five-storey complex on the site.
After opening in 1937, Speedwell Baths was closed in 2005 by Bristol City Council and has lain disused for years, becoming a breeding ground for anti-social behaviour.
Mr Rhodes has 6,576 subscribers to his YouTube channel, which boasts 33 videos.
More than 26,000 views have been clocked up on his pool exploration film, published in February 2017.
