This video of a Mets prospect getting called up to the majors for first time is too good

I have to imagine that life as a minor league baseball player has to be rough, as you busting your tail every day to finally achieve your dream of playing in the majors.

I also have to image that sometimes doubt must creep in that it’s never going to happen, which must make it all the more better when you finally do get your name called to head up to the bigs.

That happened Sunday for Sam Haggerty, a 25-year-old switch-hitting infielder in the Mets organization who played most of this season in Double-A before spending some time in Triple-A Syracuse.

Now he’s heading to the majors to play for the Mets. He learned that news in from his manager, Tony DeFrancesco, who gave a great speech before letting Haggerty know that his dream had been reached:

Now that is some good, classic baseball stuff right there. DeFrancesco sounds like he’d be a lot of fun to talk baseball with. Guy sounds like he was born to be a baseball manager.

Congrats to Haggerty.
