This UFC fighter does insane gymnastics mid-fight, tires himself out and loses

At UFC Vancouver, Michel Pereira put together an absurd gymnastics routine during his fight on Saturday night. He did backflips and back handsprings. He made countless acrobatic uses of the octagon wall, and even hurdled his opponent, Tristan Connelly.

The problem was that the gymnastic maneuvers weren’t all that beneficial for his fight against Connelly. In fact, Pereira, a Brazilian fighter, may have done too much showboating. The point of UFC is, of course, to make contact with an opponent — Pereira’s showmanship didn’t accomplish that. So after flipping and jumping all over the place in the first round, he struggled with the combat portion of the fight.

He looked exhausted as the fight continued, and lost by decision: 29-28, 29-27, 29-27.

Do less, Pereira. Do less.
