This truly disgraceful deep fried 'mac and cheese' bagel from Bross in Edinburgh is 100% vegan

Haud the bus: this bagel might look like the most disgraceful bacon-and-cheesy treat, but it's actually totally vegan.

It features two deep-fried mac and 'cheese' fritters, with streaky faux bacon, kimchi and more. It's basically a delicious calorie bomb - who said vegan food has to be healthy, anyway?

The Holy Macaroni is the latest special from Bross Bagels, and joins the existing vegan 'Buffanono Bagel' - an equally disgraceful mix of deep fried cauliflower, vegan buffalo sauce, melted vegan cheese, pickled slaw & Mama Bross’ ranch dressing.

Vegan cake and coffee shop opens in Marchmont police box this weekend

Bross Bagels in Edinburgh shared a photo of the incredible mac and cheese creation on their Instagram yesterday (3 May), saying:

"HOLY PHONEY MACARONI: deep fried, mac & cheese fritter, @sgaiaveganmeats streaky bacon & @ayepickled hot kimchi sauce. 100% VEGAN ...but meat eaters feel free to sub real. Leith's bank holiday weekend special is on until Monday but you better hurry because folk from London will be rushing up to try @gracedent ‘s favourite bagels!"

The 'Buffanono' bagel is another vegan fave (Bross Bagels)

The last comment is a nod to the fact that Guardian food critic (and regular Masterchef judge) Grace Dent gave Bross Bagels a glowing review yesterday , saying:

"I went to Edinburgh on the promise of some of Britain’s best bagels...chef Tom Kitchin confounded matters more late last year by acquainting me with the work of the Canadian-Jewish bagel bakery owner  Larah Bross .

"Her bagels are 100% organic, pre-boiled in honeywater and baked on longboards wrapped in hessian. The dough is Montreal-style, containing eggs, which makes them softer than a Brick Lane bagel.

"They taste better, too. There, I’ve said it.

"The gang down at Beigel Shop in Brick Lane have been serving some of Britain’s greatest bagels since 1855. They didn’t see Larah Bross coming."

If you want to try this latest, greatest Larah Bross creation for yourself, you only have until Monday to do so as it's a bank holiday special. What are you waiting for?
