This time Heat hold on to lead, race past Nets, 117-88

MIAMI _ This time the Miami Heat built a double-digit lead and decided to keep building on it.

The result? The first home winning streak since Jan. 10-12.

After blowing 11-, 13- and 21-point leads in losses, respectively, to the Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets and a 24-point lead in Wednesday's victory over the Golden State Warriors, the Heat this time decided there would be no further gift of giving.

Instead, they followed up the victory over the Warriors with a 117-88 decision Saturday night at AmericanAirlines Arena over the Brooklyn Nets, their most-lopsided victory of the season and Nets' most-lopsided loss.

This time, the hero of Wednesday's victory over Golden State, Dwyane Wade, opened 0 for 7 from the field. No matter, with Kelly Olynyk scoring 25 points, Bam Adebayo securing 16 rebounds and Justise Winslow rounding out the box score with 13 points, six assists and four rebounds.

And if there was any concern about an energy drain, Derrick Jones Jr. answered that question with a dynamic performance that included a fierce dunk, a ferocious blocked shot and a feathery 3-pointer in an 18-point performance.

The lead reached 23 points by the third quarter, with no Blake Griffin, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant or James Harden to get in the way.

Just a reeling Nets team that dipped below .500.

At 28-34, the Heat remained at No. 10 in the Eastern Conference playoff race, still with plenty of work remaining over the season's final 20 games.

The Heat have yet to win three consecutive home games with the season, with the Atlanta Hawks visiting Monday.

Wade finished with nine points on 4-of-12 shooting.

Joe Harris led the Nets (32-33) with 15 points.
