A TikToker named @Blabbertok has gone viral with a theory that Taylor Swift’s new track “CANCELLED!” from The Life of a Showgirl is about her mate Sophie Turner. And the proof? It’s a little too good to ignore.
The track appears on The Life of a Showgirl, which dropped just last week, and sees Taylor cheekily singing about her friends being “cancelled” — and actually liking it. From the moment it dropped, fans have been split over whether it’s Blake Lively, Brittany Mahomes, or a composite of Swift’s inner circle. But this TikTok theory? It makes a surprisingly convincing case for Sophie.
First off, the creator points out the song’s title spelling: “CANCELLED!” with two Ls. “A nod to Sophie’s English roots,” they claim. It’s true that the double-L spelling is used in Australian and British English and as the TikToker says, “Taylor is too clever to have the title be a typo”.

Is “CANCELLED!” about Sophie Turner?
@Blabbertok cites the lyric “At least you know exactly who your friends are / They’re the ones with matching scars.”
Their take? Both Taylor and Sophie dated Joe Jonas — that’s the so-called “matching scars”.
Tabloid coverage painted Sophie as a “party girl” who neglected her motherhood duties, while someone from Joe’s camp leaked this juicy tidbit to TMZ: “Joe had access to a ring cam that he said captured Sophie saying and/or doing something that made him realise the marriage was over.”
However, the media narrative backfired, with the public rejecting the party girl persona, particularly in light of Joe refusing to let Sophie take their two kids to the UK.
During the brief court battle over the children’s passports, Taylor stepped in, literally giving Sophie literally giving Sophie a place to crash in her New York apartment during that time as she sorted custody for her kids. Photos of the two Jonas exes out on the town at dinner just about broke the internet in 2023.

“I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me, and provided us with a home and a safe space. She really has a heart of gold,” Turner said to British Vogue 2024.
But what about the Brittany Mahomes and Blake Lively theory?
Before TikTok sleuths started pulling receipts on the Sophie Turner connection, many fans — including this writer — had pegged “CANCELLED!” as a nod to Brittany Mahomes.
The lyric “Good thing I like my friends cancelled / I like ‘em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal” practically screamed the Mahomes double date, after Taylor, Brittany and Travis Kelce were spotted in Gucci fits at the 2024 U.S. Open along with Brittany’s partner Patrick.
Brittany and Taylor’s friendship has faced criticism due to Brittany’s right-wing political affiliation.

But “scandal” could also read more Blake Lively than Brittany. One X user pointed out that in a Life Of a Showgirl promo pic Taylor was spotted wearing the same exclusive bracelet Blake wore for the It Ends With Us premiere.
Lively has also fronted stacked Gucci fragrance campaigns (again with the Gucci thing), which ties neatly back to the lyric, too.
So who is “CANCELLED!” actually about?
If you ask Taylor, maybe… none of the above. She told Amazon Music that “CANCELLED!” is about being judged publicly and learning to move through the world differently after surviving it. “It’s about not casting people aside just because other people decide they don’t like them,” she said.
Which honestly could apply to all three women — Sophie, Brittany, and Blake — each of whom has faced her own brand of media “cancellation”.
So maybe the song isn’t a coded love letter to one specific friend but to all of them, after all she does love her friends cancelled!
