This statistic about the Patriots’ betting odds vs. Seahawks is insane

The New England Patriots are likely to snap a wild streak on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2, as noted by CBS Sports. The Patriots won’t be favored. They will almost certainly enter their game as underdogs for the first regular season game since Week 1 of 2016.

That’s right, the Patriots have gone four years since being the underdog, which is actually pretty funny, considering Bill Belichick and his players pretend like they’re underdogs ever week.

In Week 1 of 2016, the Patriots were without Tom Brady amid his Deflategate suspension. So they turned the job over to Jimmy Garoppolo, who lit up the Arizona Cardinals secondary before he suffered an injury. Third-stringer Jacoby Brissett held down the lead, and the Patriots won, 23-21.

This Seahawks team is far more formidable than that Cardinals team. Russell Wilson boasts an explosive passing offense with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who compliment the power running game, led by Chris Carson. Though the secondary is weak, they added safety Jamal Adams in a trade this offseason. Even so, there’s reason for optimism for New England,

The Patriots have been an underdog 16 times over the last decade (including the playoffs), and they’ve been 12-4 against the spread and 11-5 straight-up.
