This 'sentimental' jewellery was stolen by thieves - can you help return it to its rightful owners?

Police have released images of a haul of suspected stolen jewellery in a bid to trace the rightful owners.

The jewellery was seized by police earlier this month after being found underneath the driver’s seat of a car that was stolen in a burglary last December.

Among the items is an engraved gold locket so officers believe they are of great sentimental value to someone.

None of the items belong to the owners of the stolen car but police do believe the jewellery has been taken by the same people who stole the vehicle.

It is believed it could be linked to burglaries in the West End of Newcastle dating back to December or January.

And now detectives in Northumbria Police’s Central Burglary Team are releasing pictures of the goods to trace their rightful owners.

Among the suspected stolen items is a gold locket with the words “Love Robert” on the back of it.

Detective Constable Michael Saunders said: “These items appear to be of great sentimental value and we are keen to find who they belong to.

“The rightful owners of this jewellery should recognise them from the pictures so we are encouraging those people to come forward.

“We believe the items were taken during a string of burglaries over the Christmas and New Year period but we don’t know where they have come from.

“If you think they could be yours then please get in touch – we would love to return these items to you.”
