A Scots chip shop is giving away free fish suppers to customers tomorrow to celebrate being in the running for a top award.
Carron Fish Bar, in Stonehaven Aberdeenshire , is offering the first 20 customers fish and chips to say thank you for their continued support.
The popular eatery is in the running to be crowned the best fish and chip shop in the UK and will find out the result of the national award at the end of the month.
The first 20 customers after 12pm tomorrow (Friday) will be rewarded with a free meal.
Fish and chips are the UK’s favourite takeaway. Research commissioned by Seafish shows that over 45 per cent of people in the UK buy fish and chips at least every other week, with most buying as a treat for themselves or because they consider it a family tradition.
A portion of fish and chips can contribute towards one of the recommended five a day portions of fruit and vegetables if mushy peas are included.
It can also be one of the recommended two portions of fish a week that we should all be eating as part of a balanced diet.
The winner of the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award will be announced at The National Fish & Chip Awards’ 32 anniversary awards ceremony in London on January 23.
