This rundown flat for rent is the most popular in Bristol right now

Getting a flat on your own is an expensive proposition. Especially in a place like Bristol, one of the most expensive places to live in the south west.

And for those determined not to move into a house share but perhaps don't have the bank balance to improve on that, you can get interested in some pretty desperate locations.

That is possibly why this cheap flat in the city centre is the most popular home for sale in Bristol, despite its, er, looks.

On the up: The rise and rise of Bristol's skyline

Complete with boarded up door, concrete surroundings, overhanging wires and dark, dull interior it is perhaps not such a surprise the flat on Old Market Street is still on the market since put up for let on March 29.

What might be a surprise is that since it's listing it has been viewed 6,097 times (at time of writing). 3,840 of those viewings have been in the last 30 days.

It's attraction is likely its price. At £400 a month not including bills, it will be one of the city's cheaper offerings.

As it's ad reads, it is one of 14 studio flats being let by company Global Guardians and includes a studio flat and separate bathroom and kitchen.

"This is a great opportunity to enjoy living in Bristol city centre at a much lower cost.

"This property is right next to Castle Park and the Shopping Quarter. Close by you will find a selection of supermarkets, shops, health centres/gym, post office, restaurants and bars."

Property guardians is a relatively new scheme in the UK where people look after abandoned or empty properties for the owners in exchange for living their cheaply.

While it offers cheap accommodation, often there is no contract so people can be kicked out at short notice.

Details about the Old Market Street flats by Global Guardians can be found here.
