This Rivian R1S Is One Of A Kind

  • Rivian built a unique R1S SUV.
  • The exclusive EV is called the R1S Quad Pebble Beach, and it was made specifically for a car auction during Monterey Car Week.
  • It’s a regular R1S Quad under the skin, but there are a lot of bespoke visuals.

Rivian has built a one-of-a-kind R1S electric SUV that will be auctioned off tomorrow at the Monterey Car Week event in California. The bespoke quad-motor R1S Pebble Beach has no reserve and is expected to fetch over $130,000 during Broad Arrow’s auction at the Monterey Jet Center.

The guts of this exclusive R1S are identical to the quad-motor EV that anyone can buy: four electric motors that output no fewer than 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough oomph to catapult the American-made SUV from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds. The drivetrain, which was designed in-house by Rivian, can also tackle the nastiest of terrains, making this one of the most capable cars on the market today.

What makes this specific R1S special, however, are the many unique design details, all of which were inspired by the Monterey Bay in California. Rivian says it made this one-off EV for everyone who appreciates the seamless integration of performance, capability and artistry.

On the outside, the Pebble Beach one-off has a unique paint dubbed Monterey Silver, which was inspired by a typical morning over Monterey Bay–as in, how the sun shines over it. The paint itself was applied by hand in a four-stage process.

The brake calipers were adorned in yet another bespoke color–Laguna Beach Silver. The same discreet blue was used as a subtle accent in the badging. The door sill plates were also custom-etched, while the custom-forged 22-inch wheels with an exclusive three-tone finish designed solely for this edition finish the exterior.

The interior of the one-of-a-kind R1S was designed as a modern coastal sanctuary. At least, that’s what Rivian says. This means there’s a bunch of Pebble Stone-inspired Adventex upholstery, soft-touch materials, cork blended textiles and textured wood accents throughout the cabin.

Moreover, a unique gradient inspired by the way the sun fades into the Pacific horizon was applied on the speaker grilles, key, floor mats and door-integrated flashlight. The teal blue, vivid red and golden yellow gradient finish is also the signature touch of Rivian’s Adventure Department, the California startup’s skunkworks team.

If unique Rivians are your thing, then you should check out tomorrow’s auction. Shoppers can bid on the spot or online.
