Small electric motorcycles aren’t just for hardcore EV advocates or techy commuters anymore. They’re becoming the ride of choice for a new wave of riders, as those who want something easy to live with, light on maintenance, and stylish enough to park proudly at the local cafe. Whether you’re zipping through traffic or cruising for fun, machines like the Beachman '64 hit that sweet spot between form and function.
Built by Toronto-based Beachman Bikes, the '64 is a head-turner through and through. With its cafe racer silhouette, vintage-style pseudo-tank, wide handlebars, and leather-look seat, it channels serious 1960s energy.
But under all that retro style lives a modern electric platform that’s clean, quiet, and surprisingly capable.
The '64 down on performance, with a 3,000-watt brushless hub motor and a 72V system delivering a top speed of 45 miles per hour. That's more than enough for urban roads and short open-road stints. Range? You get up to 55 miles on a charge, or 70 if you spring for the upgraded 3.6 kWh battery. And because the battery’s removable, you can charge it pretty much anywhere, no need for a garage or fancy setup.
But where the Beachman really stands out is in its flexibility. It’s built to meet moped regulations in most US states, so yes—it’s legal to register and plate. But it can also be ridden in two lower-power modes: a 20-mph e-bike setting and a 30-mph moped mode. Or, flip it into its full-fat 45-mph “off-road” mode if you’ve got the space to let it rip.

The frame is hand-assembled from lightweight steel, and the parts are modular, so you can swap tanks, seats, and accessories as your style (or mood) evolves. You can even get GPS tracking, motion alarms, and other premium add-ons. The digital display keeps things modern, while regenerative braking helps stretch your battery life a little further.
Beachman is offering the '64 in seven vintage-inspired colors—from classic Midnight Black to eye-catching Pink and Baja Sand—with black or brown seat options. It’s available now starting at $4,800, which isn’t cheap, but it’s well-priced considering the craftsmanship, customization, and zero-maintenance electric drivetrain.

There’s no shortage of electric motorcycles hitting the streets these days, but very few manage to balance aesthetics, practicality, and performance like this. Clearly, the Beachman '64 isn’t just another commuter designed just to get you from A to B; it’s a statement piece, one that makes you want to chill, take the scenic route, and enjoy the moment.
So here’s the real question: Is the Beachman '64 the future of café racers in the electric world? Would you rock one as your stylish commuter around the city? I know I would.
