
A new street record has been established and one of the highest prices paid for a Hamilton East house with the quick sale of a renovated 1930s bungalow.
George Rafty, of First National Newcastle City, launched the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 30 Corona Street on February 3 with a guide of $1.7 million to $1.85 million.
He reported 108 people inspected the property last Saturday before the sold sticker went up seven days later when $2.05 million was paid to secure the property.
The result is the first over $2 million for Corona Street, according to Australian Property Monitors data, and the second-highest for Hamilton East.

Another street record was set in Charlestown when Ren Property's David Podmore sold a "rare" listing at 12 Princes Avenue for $1.05 million.
The three-bedroom home on a block 1351 square metres in size had an R3 Medium Density zoning and a 28-metre frontage and sold prior to its scheduled February 20 auction.
The property was on the market for the first time since 1958.

There was also strong interest for a three-bedroom home on 577 square metres at 6 Serbin Close (pictured top right) in Cardiff Heights that was listed by Belle Property Lake Macquarie's Josh Lloyd with a guide of $570,000 to $620,000.
It attracted 71 groups through its first open house and sold for $678,000 in 16 days. It attracted 11 offers.

There were 65 groups through a four-bedroom house with a bush backdrop at 7 Aintree Close, Charlestown (pictured bottom right) before Belle Property sold it after 12 days on the market for $920,000. It was marketed with a guide of $840,000 to $890,000.

Auction action
Ray White Newcastle and Lake Macquarie's Teresa Heighington described the $2.5 million auction sale of a tightly held home on a dual block at 8 Frederick Street, Merewether last Saturday as "a great result". There were 11 registered bidders with two "heart buyers" fighting out the latter stages before it was secured by a local buyer.
It was a big day on The Hill last Saturday with two strong results for First National Newcastle City. A brand new residence at 12 McCormack Street they marketed with a guide of $3 million to $3.3 million sold for $3.6 million.

They also took 28 The Terrace to auction with a guide of $3.5 million to $3.8 million and it sold for $3.63 million.

An absolute waterfront property at 13 Walter Street, Belmont that was marketed by First National with a guide of $1.6 million to $1.76 million attracted overseas interest before selling under the hammer for $1.86 million.
An "entry level" home at 30 Kirkdale Drive, Kotara South that was marketed by Street Property with a guide of $590,000 sold under the hammer for $675,000.
