I’m a big fan of popcorn - it’s the ultimate movie snack and it’s generally healthier than other Netflix nibbles.
And now, brands are really starting to experiment with different flavours, branching out from salted, sweet and the adventurous toffee.
But now I’ve discovered a cinema treat that might just top them all - popcorn that tastes like Lotus Biscoff.
Launched by PROPERCORN late last year, their Caramelised Biscuit popcorn is part of the brand’s Night In range, which offers a seriously nostalgic element to film night.
It joins sweet, lightly sea salted, sweet and salty, and salted caramel flavours from PROPERCORN - and it might be their best flavour yet.
Opening the bag, the scent of caramel could fill the room - but the popcorn isn’t coated like you see with some toffee or flavoured popcorn. It looks light, fluffy and golden, and not like it could take a wobbly filling out.
Upon taste testing, the texture is as light and crispy as it looks, with a sweet caramel flavour warmed by cinnamon biscuit flavours - just like Lotus biscuits.
And in the interest of research, of course, I compared it to an actual Lotus Biscoff biscuit to see if it really did taste the same.
Both were absolutely delicious, and shared a very similar flavour that was close enough to make a recognisable comparison - the biscuits, naturally, just offered a little more crunch.
The popcorn is vegan and gluten free, with just 136 calories per serving - but shoppers can only head to one supermarket to get their hands on them, as they’re only available at Tesco, for £1.60 per 90g bag.
