The next generation of home video game consoles will arrive later this year, but aside from a few flashy trailers, we haven’t really seen much eye-popping gameplay footage that really showcases what these machines can really do on the fly. That is, until Wednesday.
Epic Games shared a tech demo of Unreal Engine 5 running on a PlayStation 5, and the footage is phenomenal. The demo is fully playable and was meant to be available at the now-cancelled GDC 2020 event, but you can get a sense of the next-gen features in this nine-minute playthrough of a Tomb Raider-esque game. At a time when many of us are stuck at home working on our backlogs, the PS5 can’t get here soon enough.
