VADODARA: He is called the Vighnaharta — protector from all evils. And this time, Lord Ganesha will protect his devotees from coronavirus too — in his pandal at Ellora park. To get extra powerful divine blessings, come to the pandal organized by Indraprastha Yuvak Mandal for darshan and inoculation at the Covid vaccination camp during Ganesha Chaturthi this year.
“The government has been making efforts to vaccinate maximum people over last several months. So, we decided to organize a vaccination camp in our pandal. Those visiting our Ganesha pandal and people staying in the locality can get vaccinated,” said Tarang Shah, president of Indraprastha Yuvak Mandal that was established seven years ago.
“What better place to get Covid vaccine than in the presence of the divinity who is the remover of all obstacles and a protector. We will urge the devotees, who are yet to take Covid shots, to get vaccinated,” Shah told TOI.
The organisers have already approached the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) to set up a nine-day camp at their pandal. “We have got a positive response from the VMC,” Shah added.
Vice-president of the mandal, Ashray Shah said that they will also organise medical camps for three days in different slum areas to ensure that citizens remain safe from dengue and other infections.
“The country has faced immense difficulties over the last 18 months due to Covid pandemic. We are fortunate to have got the permission to celebrate Ganesha festival this year so we aim to ensure safety of the devotees through our pandal,” Ashray added.
The Indraprastha Yuvak Mandal will also facilitate immersion of clay idols at an artificial tank near the pandal.
“Only those who have got at least one dose of vaccine will be allowed to immerse Ganesha idols in the tank,” Shah said.
