This newly-established north Dublin rowing club is rowing to Wales for two brilliant causes

A north Dublin rowing club that only formed in 2016 are getting ready to pull their way to Wales for two very noble causes.

The Fingal Rowing Club -which was established less than three years ago - will be undertaking the gruelling challenge to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and Child Vision, with each charity receiving a 50/50 donation.

The big-hearted rowers will put themselves through the highly demanding journey, also known as The Celtic Challenge, which is also the course for the world’s longest true rowing race.

It is a total rowing distance of 90 nautical miles from Arklow to Aberystwyth on the Welsh coast.

To give you an idea of the sheer effort it will take them, the row generally takes anything between 15-24 hours. The race usually starts in the afternoon with all teams rowing throughout the night arrive early morning.

The commitment has been admirable as well, as they have also been training nearly 5 days a week out on the water!

If you wish to donate to the worthy causes, you can do so here.

We wish all the guys the best ahead of their epic challenge - take a leaf out of the O'Donovan brothers' book and "pull like a dog".
