Sustainable fashion brand Mother of Pearl has branched out into eveningwear - right in time for party season.
Amy Powney's label, worn by Gwyneth Paltrow recently for Goop's 10th anniversary party, has dropped a new selection of pieces to get you through those endless Christmas parties in style.
"The mindset behind this collection was partly that we only wear these clothes for a few occasions, and partly about No Frills, our fully sustainable collection of every day wardrobe staples, being the beginning of the story," Powney told Insider. "That infiltrates into the whole brand."
"We wanted to create a product that was luxurious and evening focused without compromising on sustainable attributes, as we believed there was a gap in the market. Occasion dresses are unsustainable in that they are worn very rarely so we wanted to create a sustainable option that is also timeless Mother of Pearl, that can be worn again and again."
Powney points to the Emmie dress – a luxurious jacquard dress – as a highlight of the collection. "It encompasses the Mother of Pearl DNA, but elevated for the evening," she explains. "It was also really complex to create a jacquard in a sustainable way, so this fabric is a huge achievement. It looks and feels very luxurious as well as being sustainable."
"I also love the Lester Coat, which is a move forward from our iconic Webb coat with pearl studded shoulders. It has a beautiful silhouette and was just worn by Gwyneth Paltrow."
