This new Billy Connolly tribute is causing a stir online

There's a new 'Big Yin' kicking about - and he's causing a bit of a stir online.

Indeed Glasgow's favourite son has turned up in a new location, and in an entirely new form.

That's because Billy Connolly features in the annual 'Secret Coast Scarecrows' competition, which is currently taking place on the Cowal peninsula village of Tighnabruaich.

Dozens of scarecrows have come to life along the Kyles of Bute shoreline, including policemen, robbers and even Harry Potter.

But the undoubted star of the show this year is Scotland's legendary funnyman, who comes complete with iconic beard, a 'tickety boo' banjo and even his big banana boots.

And since photos of 'Billy' have been shared online, the comedy legend's unusual appearance by the coast has generated a lot of attention.

The post has had hundreds of likes and several comments, some of which praise the 'brilliant' scarecrow tribute as dozens of Glaswegians reminisce about holidays to the seaside town.

Furthermore, Billy the scarecrow will be stationed by the sea in Tighnabruaich for a few more weeks yet, with Secret Coast Scarecrows set to remain in-situ until September.

So if you've got a spare weekend and the sun is out, why not take a trip to the idyllic Kyles of Bute and give a friendly hello to the 'Big Yin'?

Of course there are three murals around our city where Billy and his achievements have been honoured, while last month an Oor Willie style sculpture in ode to the legendary Glaswegian popped up.

What do you think the latest Billy Connolly tribute, Glasgow?
