Kids today might scroll past an Airstream trailer without knowing what it is, but back in the day, those shiny aluminum shells were icons of freedom. They symbolized the American dream of hitting the open road, exploring wide landscapes, and living life on your own terms.
Times have changed, though.
Mobility now means more than just cars and trailers—it’s e-scooters, electric skateboards, and especially e-bikes, which have exploded in popularity as people look for cleaner, easier ways to get around. That raises the question: how does a heritage brand like Airstream fit into this new mobility story?
The answer might lie in its new partnership with Tern Bicycles, one of the leading names in e-bikes. Together, they’ve rolled out two special edition models designed for the RV lifestyle: the Vektron S10 Airstream and the HSD P5i Airstream. Both are finished in Airstream’s unmistakable aluminum silver, pairing old-school style with modern tech. At $3,699 for the Vektron and $5,099 for the HSD, they’ll set you back some serious money.
So yeah, they don’t really embody accessible urban mobility. But hey, that doesn’t mean they’re not cool.

For starters, the Tern Vektron S10 is a folding e-bike that collapses in seconds, making it easy to stash in a truck bed or inside a trailer. Unlike many cheaper folding bikes, it doesn’t feel flimsy. It’s sturdy enough to haul groceries or even carry a small child on the back. The Tern HSD P5i, on the other hand, is a compact cargo e-bike, blending the utility of a full cargo hauler with the agility of a smaller bike. Think heavy loads, extra gear, or even a passenger, all with the ease of pedaling assisted by Bosch Performance drive systems.
It’s worth noting here that both bikes provide pedal-assist up to 20 miles per hour, making short trips to town, loops around the campground, or light adventure rides more effortless.

Whether this is just a clever branding move or a genuine effort to make RV life more flexible is up for debate. But the concept makes sense: Airstream trailers get you across the country, while Tern e-bikes let you explore once you’re parked. Of course, you can do all that with any trailer and any e-bike. But having matching gear is always a flex (and something worth tossing onto your Instagram profile).
And for some adventure-curious folks with extra money burning a hole in their pocket, that combination might be exactly what gets them off the couch, and back outside where the adventure really happens.
