This Morning viewers unimpressed with mum's spending on Christmas presents

This Morning viewers were left unimpressed by a mum for her spending on Christmas presents.

Raj Gill joined Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes on the ITV show alongside Constance Smith, a Wigan mum who plans to budget this year.

Raj says she plans to go all out for her two children this year and plans to spend over £10k on her son and daughter at Christmas.

She said on This Morning: "I'm going to have a massive blow out. I'm going to spend, spend, spend.

"They completely deserve it, they’re really, really good children. They rarely ever ask for things.

"It's been a really tough year. We're BAME, so we’re more susceptible to Covid and they've handled it beautifully considering what they've been through."

Raj shared that she plans to buy her 17-year-old daughter a car and lots of beauty products while she wants to gift her son a new games console and gadgets.

Whereas Constance believed you "can't buy love" and encouraged people to buy at least one gift from a charity shop as if every person did so, "the world would be a better place."

They debated whether to save or splurge at Christmas (ITV)

And of course, viewers headed to Twitter to have their say.

"#ThisMorning thousands of pounds on Christmas presents is ridiculous... I don't care that "this year is rubbish" there is no need to go over the top." critiqued one.

Another said: "I don’t think people need to hear about someone having the ability to spend £10k on their children at Christmas when some people are struggling to even put food on the table after this year."

"£10k on Christmas presents is ridiculous. #ThisMorning," a third added.

A fourth commented: "Whatever happened to you get what you're given? Jesus, no pressure needed whatsoever! It's one day! #Christmas #ThisMorning."

Another defended the spend adding: "Save or Splurge...it all depends on how much money you have. If you have the money to spend..why not..especially if the kids worked hard/been good..but family memories always wins over money. Happy Holidays Everyone."

While another said: "Each to own, just don't go into debt doing whatever you do for your children and family. #ThisMorning."
