This Morning viewers were left fuming today when a phone-in guest rang up to take a pop at her husband’s fashion sense.
Jayne, in South Devon, called in to complain to Vanessa Feltz about her husband Graham’s rather casual style, which she said never changes - even if they go out.
“He thinks he’s stylish but he kind of misses the point. He constantly wears shorts, in the winter as well,” said Jayne.
When host Eamonn Holmes enquired as to whether her husband is a postman, she replied: “He’s not a postman, he just likes shorts.”
To hammer home her point, Jayne even sent in a photo of him in the offending shorts to illustrate her poor hubby’s style (or lack of).
She continued: “I like dressing up, and that’s his best, what he’s got on there [in the photo].”
When Vanessa asked whether he had raised the issue with Graham, Jayne said she had put her views across “very strongly”.
When questioned over what his response is, Jayne said: “He says Jayne, you don't know what style is.”
Viewers were divided over the phone-in as a whole, which also featured a woman called Jackie who wasn't happy that her son is dressed by her daughter-in-law to make sure he looks more presentable.
But it was Jayne’s complaint that they felt most strongly about, and both sides tweeted their views.
One said: “Your husband wears shorts in the winter? Hardly grounds for divorce Jayne!”
A second tweeted: “Jane sorry but he looks quite trendy.”
Another posted: “Leave the man alone he clearly knows what style is” with a laughing face emoji at the end.
A third simply said: “What makes you a style guru, Jayne?”
Others joked that Graham should divorce Jayne for taking her woes into such a public arena.
One said: “Jayne exposes her husband, because she doesn't like him any more, Graham, divorce her.”
A second added: “Bin her off Graham.”
But not everyone was on Graham’s side - some were more sympathetic to Jayne’s plight.
One posted: “He wears shorts in the winter what a turnip.”
