This Morning viewers tell show to 'check your Northern geography' in map blunder

Eagle-eyed This Morning viewers didn't miss a trick today as the hosts discussed the latest lockdown news for Greater Manchester.

Presenters Rochelle Humes and Dermot O'Leary were speaking about how more than four million residents in all 10 boroughs of GM as well as parts of East Lancashire and West Yorkshire were subject to new strict rules.

They were joined on the ITV show by Dr Phillipa Kay as they discussed the major changes.

However, when a map was displayed to offer a visual guide, those watching at home noticed a bit of a blunder.

The map showed West Yorkshire as being south of Manchester, which isn't actually correct.

The county is east and north of Greater Manchester and viewers were not going to let them get away with the mistake.

One said: "@thismorning you may want to check your Northern Geography..."

"Who does your Geography? You got Yorkshire and Greater Manchester the wrong way round," wrote another.

Viewers were quick to spot the error (ITV)

A third added: "#ThisMorning according to the map you just showed Yorkshire has moved over night."

"If this morning’s #manchesterlockdown news wasn’t confusing enough already #ITV #ThisMorning just added to it by showing Greater Manchester has now moved to West Yorkshire and vice versa," a fourth also commented.

A final comment read: "Just having a laugh at the location of West Yorkshire on the #thismorning map."

From July 31 people in these areas have been banned from meeting each other inside their homes or in gardens following a spike in  coronavirus  cases.

This prevents members of two different households from mixing in pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues.
