This Morning viewers slam "painfully unfunny" interview with man who pranked girlfriend on Valentine's Day

This Morning fans have been left unimpressed after an 'embarrassingly painful' interview with a couple.

David Burrows, 37, and partner Sue Pakey, 44, were being interviewed by Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford after their Valentine's prank went viral.

Mr Burrows left his girlfriend underwhelmed on the romantic day after promising her a 'spa weekend'.

Miss Pakey was led to believe she'd be going on a pamper-filled weekend break, when instead she was taken on a tour of Birmingham's Spar shops.

Viewers cringed at the 'painfully awkward' interview (ITV)

Appearing on This Morning, she said: "I can see the funny side of it now, but at the time I wasn't very happy at all."

She added: "He was like 'can you pack a bag, I'm taking you on a spa break.'"

Miss Pakey then told Ruth and Eamonn that it was when she got to the second Spar shop, she began to get suspicious.

The pair were talking to Ruth and Eamonn as they stood outside a Spar in Birmingham (ITV)

When asked if her boyfriend was a 'fun guy', she simply said: "He can be quite funny."

Viewers took to Twitter during the interview, with some calling it 'painful' and 'awkward'.

One sarcastically said: "Took his wife on a Spar break for Valentine's. Side splitting stuff there Dave."

Another wrote: "This whole segment is disastrously unfunny."

A third said: "This is hilarious.... #inoppositeland."

"Well. This trash. #ThisMorning" said another viewer.

"The most boring pair of ***** ever" ranted another watcher.

Other viewers felt sorry for Miss Pakey, with one tweeting: "Please let them get given an actual weekend away now, this poor woman."

"She looks totally underwhelmed" said another viewer.

A third said: "Poor woman looks so embarrassed!"
