This Morning viewers reminded why they love the show so much

This Morning viewers say they were reminded why they love it so much following the start of today's programme.

Phillip Schofield made quite the impression yesterday after finding out peas don't count as one of your five a day according to a Harvard study.

He spoke about the joys of a pea sandwich which not everyone agreed was such a joyful food.

It left viewers and guests on the show alike conflicted as to whether it was disgusting or delicious.

Phillip stayed strong with his support of peas and opened up This Morning in a way that reminded fans why they love the show.

Phillip and Holly Willoughby opened up today's show holding signs saying 'give peas a chance' and 'breach of the peas'.

The presenters also donned sashes in support of the movement.

Phillip said: "On yesterday's show we revealed the 'unpeasing' news that a firm favourite in the vegetable community - peas - no longer counted as one of your five-a-day."

Holly said: "Well, it's outrageous, with peas feeling like they no longer had a place on the dinner table we've begun our mission to give peas a chance!"

Phillip said: "In front of us, we've got a platter of pea related foods.

"Including my favourite, the pea sandwich!"

The presenters also introduced singer Gaz Keenan from a Beatles tribute band to sing satirical 'Give Peas a Chance'.

The show has continued with guests being interviewed on the matter of if peas qualify as a nutritious vegetable with pea related decorations.

Phillip announced that 9,000 peas are eaten per person a year in the UK.

Viewers turned to Twitter to express their love for the show.

Charlie said: "This is why I love @Schofe @hollywills @thismorning. Moments like this that they get my vote at @OfficialNTAs every year. Just love the show [Crying with laughter emoji] #Givepeasachance #ThisMorning"

Michelle said: "Have “give peas a chance“ in my ear for the rest of the day now! P.S. - I love peas too!"

Fans of the show were quick to inform Afua Adom of the opening display after her disgust on the show yesterday.

Zubair said: "Oh how they are coming for you @afuathescot on @thismorning. #peabrigade"

Not everyone was loving the vegetable, with some viewers strongly against the shows campaign.

Isaac said: "Controversial Opinion: Peas are disgusting @thismorning I am glad that they are not one of our five a day. I will #nevergivepeasachance"
