This Morning viewers raging as caller asks his 86-year-old gran to eat Christmas dinner outside

This Morning viewers were left raging after a caller revealed he had asked his family to eat Christmas dinner outside.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were joined by Vanessa Feltz on Tuesday morning's show for a phone-in.

Viewers were calling and texting in for advice on their dilemmas, this time around the topic of 'Am I being unreasonable?'.

And among the awkward scenarios, one caller's question left viewers furious as they branded the questioner 'stupid'.

Ethan sent a message to Holly and Phil to explain that he had asked his family to eat their Christmas dinner in the garden, due to concerns about Covid-19.

"I've asked my family to eat their Christmas dinner outside in the garden because I don't want to catch Covid," Phil read.

"They think I'm being unreasonable especially as my grandma is 86 years old. Am I in the wrong?."

Whilst reading the statement, Vanessa laughed and responded: "You're not in the wrong but you should be outside.

"You go outside and eat yours out there and let them be inside. That's what I think."

Phil also gave his opinion on the situation.

"Well the grandma is 86 years old," he said.

"Ethan, it depends what sort of heating you've got out there. I mean you can't just sit in the garden in December.

"He could kill the grandma of hypothermia."

Giving her final piece of advice, Vanessa then said: "Let her stay inside and the rest of them, and you go outside and talk to them through an open window.

"If the family don't want to I don't think you can make them, but if he wants to he should do it."

Holly then recommended what she thought Ethan should do instead, so that he and his family have the best protection against coronavirus.

"How about lateral flows in the morning, and keep the windows open for good ventilation," she said.

And viewers were in full agreement - with some taking to Twitter to rant at the man's decision to make his grandma eat outside.

Patrick said: "Sit outside to have your Christmas dinner? Don’t be so bloody stupid. If you’re that worried don’t meet up. Simple!"

Sara added: "You can’t expect an 86yo woman to eat in Christmas dinner outside unless you live in Australia."

Chan also said: "Who wants to eat Christmas Dinner outside? It's gonna be bloody cold! Ethan should eat his dinner outside."
