This Morning viewers left raging after 'selfish' mum stockpiles food to last until January

A mum-of-two has been blasted by This Morning viewers for stockpiling enough food to last for four months.

Young mum Emma Tarry spoke out after panic buying hundreds of supermarket products amid the recent surge in Covid-19 - but claims she isn't 'selfish'.

She appeared via video link on the ITV show on Wednesday, where she spoke to hosts Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

She said she has hidden away 400 tins, 700 nappies, dozens of bags of flour and frozen food to last until January.

Emma insisted she was not selfish when pressed by Holly and Phil, but furious viewers tuning in from home did not agree.

One wrote on Twitter: "This selfish greedy world we live in."

"Stockpiling food?" a second asked in disbelief.

Another branded Emma's actions "wrong" - and another wrote: "Stock piling in any shape or form is not okay..."

Other viewers branded her actions "ridiculous" and "extreme" - but Emma remained defiant during the chat with This Morning.

Emma admitted she used many supermarkets for the deliveries, having been left too fearful to visit a supermarket nearby as stores begin to restrict products and introduce rationing for customers.

This Morning was slammed by some viewers for stoking the panic as one shopper wrote: "Worried food is going to be rationed, only putting more fear into others and potentially making the panic buying issue worse.

"People should have learnt from the last lockdown and stop being so selfish."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am.
