This Morning viewers left baffled by Nick Ferrari's 'helmet'

This Morning viewers were left with raised eyebrows today as Nick Ferrari was seen sporting a helmet on the show.

Today, the ITV daytime show celebrated the 75th anniversary of VE Day with a number of touching interviews with war veterans and a change to their iconic theme tune.

But as radio host Nick appeared on the programme to dissect the news, fans were left very confused by the old police helmet he was wearing.

Fans took to Twitter to joke about the accessory, with one tweeting: "#thismorning he looks like a playmobil character with that helmet on."

Another cheekily remarked: "Nice helmet Nick #ThisMorning."

A third questioned: "We caught Nick about to get a hair cut?? #ThisMorning."

Instead of playing the usual intro music today, the ITV programme had a live band playing to introduce the programme.

Fans enjoyed the intro, with one tweeting: "Loved the intro music today @thismorning @EamonnHolmes #VEDay2020 #ThisMorning."

Earlier, Dr Hilary Jones also paid a poignant tribute to the heroes of today and those 75 years ago.

Hailing the today an "important day for everyone", he said: "VE Day. It's a day when everyone's feeling a bit more vulnerable themselves, feeling that their own life is threatened, to some extent, by this virus.

"We wouldn't have our lives and our liberty today without the sacrifices of the young 75+ years ago.

"Heroes then and heroes today on the frontline fighting the virus, I think it's very important today that we actually do celebrate what has been achieved."

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
