Viewers of This Morning voiced their anger at host Eamonn Holmes for apparently being rude to the new Prime Minster's father Stanley Johnson.
He appeared on the ITV programme early on Thursday with presenters Eamonn and Ruth Langsford.
During their conversation, Eamonn kept referring to the similarities between father and son Boris, who took over as PM on Wednesday.
He told Stanley: "It’s fascinating watching you because you are so like Boris. I can see so much of you in him."
He quizzed Stanley, implying that the Prime Minister might purposefully imitate his father and vice versa.
Stanley hit back: "I don't think I consciously ape my children."
Later in the interview Eamonn offered an awkward impression of the PM, CornwallLive reports.
Writing on Twitter, one viewer said: "Eamonn is out of his depth with Stanley and words... #ThisMorning."
Another said: "Eamonn and Ruth don't appear to be fans of Boris #ThisMorning."
A third wrote: "They shouldn’t be showing their personal opinions like that all over their face."
A following viewer dubbed the hosts' behaviour "very unprofessional".
A later disgruntled audience member said: "Why is Eamonn Holmes being so rude to Stanley? Of course his son is like him, he's his bloody father #thismorning."
