This Morning viewers in hysterics as ITV crew shock Holly and Phil with old soundbite

This Morning has remained on our screens amid the coronavirus outbreak and Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have been going to great lengths to keep the nation in high spirits.

So far that's included changing the studio to a permanent summer day backdrop and continuing with Spin to Win.

On today's show the presenting duo had a look back at This Morning's Best Bits, which was essentially a montage of them falling around laughing throughout the years.

The segment seemed to cheer everyone up with many posting on social media to say it was exactly what they needed.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield left in hysterics (ITV)

Reminiscing about past shows, Holly and Phil, who have been keeping two metres apart as they implement social distancing, said they couldn't wait to get back to normality.

However, before the show cut to an ad break the ITV crew blasted out a snippet of Holly from an old episode of This Morning.

Holly and Phil were completely caught off guard by the clip, leaving them and viewers at home once again in hysterics.

The episode in question aired in October 2016 and saw Holly make a funny sound while laughing.

Holly replied: "I don't know! It just came out!"

During the show the producers then replayed Holly's noise back and the pair creased up again and couldn't stop.

The clip and Holly's unusual sound then went viral with over 16 million views.

Loving the laughter and uplifting show today, one social media user wrote: "Hahahahahaha @hollywills and @Schofe weren’t expecting that #ThisMorning."

And a third commented: "#ThisMorning Thank you can't beat a good laugh."
