This Morning viewers heartbroken over devastating call in

A caller's tragic story struck an emotional chord with This Morning viewers.

This Morning's agony aunt, Deidre Sanders, was on stand-by to help out as viewers were invited to call in to discuss personal topics. Topics typically range from relationships to financial worries, but one conversation today left some viewers in shock.

After the UK experienced its hottest day on record, homes found themselves ablaze after not being able to cope with the heat. Multiple homes around London ended up being burnt to the ground alongside damage to the surrounding land. The caller today was one of the people who suffered from the monumental loss as she sought advice on what to do next from Deidre.

She said: "My dad lost his house in the bad fires we had. He's 75 and he's basically lost everything. His wife's ashes were actually in the house. I just want to know how to support him not so much physically but mentally."

Deidre said the best thing to do was to be there at every moment she can and to keep his spirits high despite the devastating loss. Alison and Dermot commended the woman for being by her father's side and tried their best to console her.

Viewers were taken back by the distressing call as they shared their sympathy online. One viewer said: "It's sad as I understand why some people take the ashes with them. I have mum on the mantle piece and I'd die internally if I lost them.

Another added: "Aww his partner's ashes were in the house how sad bless him."

Another commenter added: "So sad hope he gets rehomed right away."

Deidre ended the call by saying she should take her father away from the home until a time he is ready to go back as a return too soon may be distressing.
