This Morning viewers were relieved that Chanel the parrot returned after going missing again - a year after her owner's original tearful video about her escape went viral.
But fans were left deeply upset after discovering that the parrot would be having her wings clipped to stop her from escaping.
Sandra Hannah, 41, began trending online in 2020 as she wandered the streets of Liverpool as she called out for her beloved Chanel.
She was back yesterday to speak to Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes on This Morning as she pleaded with viewers to look out for the bird and that she was devastated that she had gone missing.
Thankfully, Chanel had returned home and Sandra returned to speak to the hosts - but startled Ruth and viewers when she revealed she was having the parrot's wings clipped.
Eamonn had asked: "What are we going to do to make sure Chanel doesn't escape again?"
"She's getting her wings clipped," Sandra replied.
Ruth looked concerned as she questioned: "What does that mean? Does that mean she can't fly at all?"
"Nope, she won't be able to fly at all," she replied turning to the parrot. "It's your own fault, it's for her own safety and my health."
Ruth questioned: "And that's safe to do, is it?"
"Yeah," Sandra insisted. "They grow back and then we'll probably have to do it again."
"OK," Ruth replied. "I didn't know that you could do that."
But viewers were unhappy with Sandra's choice and took to Twitter to comment.
One tweeted: "Pretty sure birds have wings for a reason? You know… to fly."
While another commented: "Wow.. bird owner of the year. The bird goes missing and she gets it’s wings clipped. Wow. #thismorning."

Another fumed: "So Chanel is getting her wings clipped for Sharon's health??? Oh f*** off #ThisMorning."
"Ooft clipping the wings??? Bit harsh why not be a more responsible bloody owner and keep doors and windows closed #ThisMorning," one raged.
A fan wrote: "That is really cruel, a parrot shoulder get their wings clipped. Birds are meant to fly not locked in cages #ThisMorning."
