This Morning viewers have welcomed the return of Tony Slattery to television as he opens up about his bipolar disorder.
Slattery, 59, appeared on the ITV show in a pre-recorded interview following an outpouring of support last weekend when he gave a revealing interview about his struggle with substance abuse and bipolar.
The comedian, who is well known for his role in programmes Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Just A Minute, was one of Britain's best-known stand-ups in his heyday.
But his stellar career came under strain as he battled drug and booze addiction following a secret battle with the mental health condition which lead to a breakdown at the age of 36 fuelling him to down two bottles of vodka and take 10grams of cocaine a day.
Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Slattery said that his working-class background spurred him on to never say no because you "never know when it's going to stop".

He said: "I really enjoyed working but all work and no play takes its toll and you forget to relax."
Recalling the sequence of his decent into depression, Slattery said: "The over work [came first], no holidays, no taking a break and eventually you snap and try to replace it with something and in my case it was cocaine.
"I was drinking two bottles of vodka a day and doing 10 grams of coke."
He then took a moment to admit that he was nervous and apologised for 'jumping about' within the chat.

But viewers have been quick to praise the star on social media following his first TV appearance in 14 years.
One said: "what a pleasure to see you on This Morning. I didn't know you'd had health issues and you've been sorely missed on tv. Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Onward and upward."
"Fantastic to see you on This Morning. Truly inspiring to hear you talking so openly. Good luck for the future," added another.
A third tweeted: "Wonderful to see @TheTonySlattery on the tv, I shed a little tear. What a gem."
"You were amazing on This Morning. So open and honest. Great to see you back on the box," commented another.
