This Morning viewers disgusted as Phillip Schofield reveals 'nasty' sandwich filling

This Morning viewers were divided on Tuesday as Phillip Schofield owned up to enjoying rather odd sandwich filling.

The dad-of-two left his co-host Holly Willoughby horrified, and guest Afua Adom looking visibly ill, after revealing his unusual sarnie filling choice.

Phillip, 58, admitted that he loves nothing more than chowing down on a pea sandwich as they discussed reports that peas don't count towards one of your five a day.

Phillip asked Afua: "So you've never had the joys of a pea sandwich?" to which she replied: "Oh, that sounds horrendous."

Holly then chimed in: "She actually looked utterly disgusted at you."

Viewers watching at home were equally baffled and took to Twitter to comment.

"Pea sandwich? Are you feeling okay @Schofe?" one person posted, alongside a vomiting face emoji.

Another fan added: "Phil give up the pea sandwich it's nasty #thismorning."

However, other viewers agreed with Phil and one person posted: "Pea sandwich with tartare sauce."

The ITV Coronation Street Twitter account wrote: "Is it odd that we're now contemplating a pea sandwich for lunch @Schofe..? #GivePeasAChance #ThisMorning."

"It's true, you can't beat a pea sandwich," another person tweeted.

This isn't the first time that 58-year-old Phillip has expressed his love for a pea sandwich.

He even spoke about the snack back in 2013, and one fan tweeted him asking: "@Schofe Don't the peas all escape from the sandwich??!!!"

Phillip jokingly replied: "That is a skill you will acquire in time," insinuating that he's been chomping on pea sandwiches for quite a while.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
