This Morning viewers delighted as Eamonn Holmes takes down 'bonkers' Brexit stockpiler

This Morning viewers were not happy with a Brexit stockpiler who appeared on the programme to show off her hoard.

Jen McEnhill explained that she had been collecting items including extra food, washing detergent and toiletries for six months in the event that we leave Europe with no deal.

When asked if she was worried about shortages, she said: "That was my initial concern. It's also about prices going up. Being prepared and saving up for the longer term."

Co-host Ruth Langsford enquired as to how long she could survive if there was suddenly no more food to buy.

Jen replied: "I think about six months now. I’ve done this over a period of a year. I didn't go out and buy it all at once, panicking.

"If I’m doing a shop I double up or if there are good deals I buy more."

Exasperated fans of the show were delighted when no-nonsense host Eamonn Holmes accused her of creating "Project Fear" and “scaremongering” at the same time as stocking up on gherkins.

He said: "There’s no chance on god’s earth we're having a gherkin shortage."

"Europe have goods to sell. They’re not going to keep all their cars and gherkins. I don’t even know where greens come from. There isn’t going to be a shortage."

Viewers took to Twitter to express their frustration.

One said: “Well said @EamonnHolmes. Stockpiling is bonkers. This woman is just annoying me.”

A second said: “What a bloody idiot, its people like her who will cause a hike in food prices.”

A third said: “I bet this woman's the reason my Tesco salted caramel muffins weren't delivered yesterday.”

Another simply said: “F***in moron.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
