This Morning viewers were confused on Monday's show as Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby spoke to Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
The MP said he was "hearing the same rumours" about a second lockdown as Phillip was, but admitted he did not know if it was being announced or what measures it would involve.
He insisted he had spoken to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson that morning, but was unable to offer any information about their conversation.
Matt said Boris is "just as worried as we are" about the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases.
Phillip asked Matt when we would hear about a second lockdown, assuming that it would be during Boris' next announcement.
"I'm hearing the same rumours that you are," replied Matt.
One viewer ranted: "Matt hancock - ‘I’m hearing the same rumours as you are’ It’s good to know that you communicate with the Prime Minister!! Considering you’re meant to be working cohesively ffs".

"Matt Hancock, a member of the government, just said ‘I’m hearing the same rumours as you’ about when we’ll have the next government announcement," commented a third.
The MP said that lessons had been learnt from the mistakes the government made during the pandemic, and promised that "next time" they would be better prepared.
He said a vaccine for the virus would not be likely until the start of next year at the very earliest.
Phillip quizzed Matt on the lack of local testing as people are asked to travel hundreds of miles for tests, calling it a "catastrophe".
Matt insisted the numbers of people being tested every day was rising, and said if we can get a handle of the virus now, Christmas might be normal.
He said his regret was not knowing more about the virus spreading without symptoms, and claimed that was why the care home deaths occured.
