This Morning vet Scott Miller breaks down in tears over his beloved dog's death

Vet Scott Miller broke down in tears on This Morning after revealing his dog of 14 years has died.

Speaking to This Morning hosts Rochelle Humes and Alison Hammond, Scott said that he had had a tough time in lockdown over the last few weeks.

Dr Scott had been offering other pet owners advice before opening up about his own struggle.

Rochelle told him: "I'm so sorry to hear about your lovely Betty."

"Aw thanks guys, yeah," Dr Scott said, but when a picture of his dog aired on screen his voice became shaky.

"Yeah, I've had a tough couple of days," he said as he breathed out heavily.

"Oh no," Rochelle was heard saying as Dr Scott looked visibly upset.

"I was saying goodbye to be very special dog," Dr Scott said. "Yeah, I just want to say thank you to everyone that's sent supportive messages. She's been with me for 14 years and as a vet it's really hard to say goodbye to one of your dogs.

"But yeah, she's like one of my kids, so yeah, it's been tough."

Rochelle told the tearful vet that she wanted to "give him a hug".

Earlier this week, Dr Scott posted a picture of Betty and wrote: "I had to say goodbye to my beautiful friend of 14 years this evening, and my heart is broken.

"Betty I love you so much and am so grateful to have had you in my life. Run free my beautiful girl...I will love you forever xxx."

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
