This Morning travel guru has this warning for holidaymakers about air bridges

This Morning travel guru Simon Calder has warned millions could miss out on holidays abroad with the delay of the governments air bridge deal.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the veteran travel journalist revealed millions have their hopes pinned on the governments deal with several European countries to create air bridges which would bypass the 14 day quarantine rule when they return.

The government were due to reveal which countries had agreed to run air bridges to and from the UK on June 30, however the information is set to be revealed on July 2.

During his segment, Simon revealed: "There's millions of people with holidays booked in July and August, desperate to get away.

"Until the government says 'We've got these so-called air bridges arrangements, deals where you won't need to quarantine, in place', nobody knows if they'll be able to go (on holiday)."

Greece have already revealed they won't be allowing anyone from the UK into the country until at least July 15, already ending hopes of a holiday in 2020 for some.

"This is all going to kick off on Monday, July 6, that's when people are due to be going on holiday." added Simon,

"The airlines, the travel companies, are kind of assuming it's going ahead, certainly Spain and France look good."

Simon went on to reveal that some companies are offering incredible deals to fly away in the next few months, including Birmingham to Tenerife, a 7 night, self-catering package holiday for just £259.

The travel guru also revealed to Holly, with easyJet announcing a scaled back operation, including more than 700 pilots without jobs, will eventually leave would-be holidaymakers facing higher fares with less choice in destinations.
