This Morning 'to get new slot' in ITV reshuffle after Jeremy Kyle Show axe

This Morning is set to get a new slot as ITV programme bosses plan a major reshuffle of their daytime schedule, according to reports.

But don’t worry, the best loved morning show isn’t moving completely - fans will be delighted to know that if plans go ahead, it would get a longer slot.

And apparently hosts Holly Willoughby, 38, and Phillip Schofield, 57, would score ‘huge pay rises’ as channel bosses look to find a permanent replacement for The Jeremy Kyle Show.

Judge Rinder has been filling in the 9.25am to 10.30am slot since Kyle’s talk show was taken off the air, but it seems that there are other plans for the coveted slot.

According to the Mirror Online , ITV wants to rejig the daytime schedule and make “more of a live event”, with presenters interacting with each other as they hand over to the next show.

The change would start at 6am where Good Morning Britain would be bumped on half an hour to make way for 30 minutes of news.

Then the baton will then be handed to Piers Morgan, 54, and Susanna Reid, 48, at 6.30am.

The breakfast show will hand over to Lorraine at the later time of 9am, and at 10am she will pass over to Holly and Phil on This Morning.

These changes are not yet in stone - they have been submitted as a proposal from an ITV focus group, which says that the earlier slot will feature “funny viewers’ letters and emails”.

It says: “From crying with laughter at naughty pictures innocent kids have drawn to recalling personal funny and relatable anecdotes.

“Nothing is off limits as they talk about the stories and pictures of the day that have grabbed their attention.”

ITV want the shows to have a “the feel of a continuous live broadcast featuring favourite and familiar faces”.

The proposal says: “The show would have more interaction between the end of each show and a smoother handover between presenters into the next show.

“Eg. Lorraine may chat with Phil and Holly to hand over each day.”

An ITV insider told the newspaper that bosses were “looking at different ideas” but no decisions had been made.

The channel has struggled to find the best fit to replace the Jeremy Kyle Show, which regularly pulled in one million viewers.

The programme was axed after the death of Steve Dymond, 63, following his appearance on the show which saw him fail a lie detector test.
