This Morning to be on for extra half an hour as ITV try and fill Jeremy Kyle Gap

ITV have come up with a proposed morning schedule, which would fill the gap left by The Jeremy Kyle Show.

The plans, which have been submitted to an ITV focus group, would mean an earlier start for Holly and Phil as their show This Morning would be on air from 10am to 12:30pm. It currently starts at 10:30am.

And according to an exclusive story by The Mirror , it means big pay rises for the pair, who will spend the extra 30 minutes of their show reading and discussing "funny viewers' letters and emails".

The proposal says: “From crying with laughter at naughty pictures innocent kids have drawn to recalling personal funny and relatable anecdotes.

“Nothing is off limits as they talk about the stories and pictures of the day that have grabbed their attention.”

It will also mean changes to the schedule earlier in the day, as ITV try and get back the million viewers who tuned in for The Jeremy Kyle Show every day.

Morning Britain will be pushed back to a 6:30am start time, to be preceded by the news.

Lorraine, hosted by Lorraine Kelly, will then be broadcast from 9am to 10am, compared to the current slot of 8:30am to 9:25am.

ITV want the shows to have a “the feel of a continuous live broadcast featuring favourite and familiar faces”.

The proposal says: “The show would have more interaction between the end of each show and a smoother handover between presenters into the next show.

“Eg. Lorraine may chat with Phil and Holly to hand over each day.”

The Jeremy Kyle Show was cancelled after a guest, Steve Dymond, 63, took his own life shortly after appearing on the show and failing a lie detector test. The episode never aired.

It was recently announced ITV were working hard to find a new show for Jeremy Kyle.
