This Morning slammed for airing another rapid weight loss segment after 2k complaints

This Morning was hit with a huge backlash on Friday after airing another segment about rapid weight loss.

Jason Vale spoke to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary and gave his tricks and tips to follow a juicing diet before lockdown ends.

The segment was branded "toxic" and "unhealthy" by viewers on Twitter.

It comes after This Morning received almost 2,000 complaints after airing a segment promoting an 800-calorie daily diet.

On Friday, Dermot introduced the newest weight loss segment, saying: "With just weeks to go before we can see our family and friends again, could we do with some help with our lockdown love handles?"

"Yes is the answer to that," Alison said.

The camera then cut to Jason adding fruits to a blender to make healthy juices.

Jason explained that the juice diet works as meal replacements and helps to balance appetite.

He said women tend to lose about 7lbs in a week, where men lose 10lbs.

The segment was about how people can lose their 'lockdown love handles' by following a juicing diet (ITV)

Jason explained: "That's quite a severe thing if people want to lose their lockdown love handles rapidly."

But he recommended just replacing breakfast with juice as an easy way to start the diet.

Alison drank her green juice, telling him: "It feels like my body saying 'thank you.''"

The segment was heavily criticised by This Morning viewers on Twitter.

One tweeted: "Not #ThisMorning talking about the 'juicing diet'.... it is NOT HEALTHY to just consume juice!!!"

Another posted: "This juice cleanse on #thismorning seems very toxic, never liked the idea of pushing extreme weight loss and diet tips like this on tv."

A third said: "Juice diets are not a healthy way to lose weight. Don't do it, just eat 3 healthy balanced meals a day, drink plenty of water and exercise."

Another agreed: "@thismorning you should not be promoting juice diets. Many watch your show & are easily influenced. It's not a healthy way of losing weight and leads to negative effects."

The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.

It comes after This Morning received almost 2,000 complaints about a weight loss segment that aired last month.

On February 26, Alison and Dermot welcomed doctor Michael Mosley onto the ITV show, who was promoting an 800-calorie daily diet.

Mosley said he is a "fan of rapid weight loss, if you do it properly" and claimed consuming 800 to 1,000 calories a day can be "safe and effective".

Viewers called the segment "irresponsible’ and "dangerous" and Ofcom received 1,932 complaints about This Morning on the same day that Dr Mosley appeared on the show, but the regulatory body hasn’t specified what the complaints were about.
