This Morning's Matthew Wright appeared to make a savage dig at co-star Rochelle Humes on Monday's show over her festive trip to Dubai.
Matthew, who used to host his own Channel 5 talk show in the same time slot as the ITV programme, is now a regular This Morning panellist and was on screen as it returned from its Christmas break.
With calls for the Government to impose a full lockdown again, the main topic of discussion between hosts Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes, who replaced Holly Willoughby, and guests Matthew and Julia Hartley-Brewer was coronavirus restrictions.
Matthew made the worrying revelation that he believes his whole family have contracted COVID-19 as the new variant of the virus sees cases soar in the south and then gave his opinion on whether he believed current legislation was working.
He raged: "Not when you've got TV presenters going to Dubai!" - which many viewers took as a dig at Rochelle, who went to the UAE before London was placed in Tier 4.
Posting a picture of two of her children on Instagram at their hotel on December 16, she wrote: "8 cases and 8 hours later we arrived in our happy place @jumeirahzs."
Julia has too been on holiday but she immediately defended herself, saying she went to Antigua before Tier 4 restrictions came in for London and much of the south east, with a shocked Rochelle saying it was the same with her trip.
This Morning viewers were quick to pick up on Matthew's comment, with one tweeting him to say: "Not good that your family is ill, but a low blow made at Rochelle for doing something she was allowed to do at the time."
Another reacted: "Rochelle's face when Matthew Wright was calling people out for going away for Christmas after her holiday to Dubai," accompanied by a laughing emoji.
Siding with Matthew, a third posted: "I am so sorry to hear you and your family are very unwell Matthew get better soon i find a a absolute cheek that Rochelle is sitting on the sofa when they flouted rules by going to Dubai disgusting," with another agreeing, tweeting: "Her face was a picture, she wasn't happy .. he is so right"
