This Morning's Phillip Schofield says Holly Willoughby 'is like the sister I never had'

Phillip Schofield trusts his This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby “entirely and completely” and sees her as “the sister he never had.”

The TV star, 57, addressed his close friendship with his colleague, 38, as the pair prepare to celebrate 10 years presenting the ITV magazine show.

The much-loved duo share laughs on screen and often holiday together with their families.

“For me in Holly, it’s someone I trust entirely and completely and someone who trusts me, not just on the telly but, you know, with our lives,” he said.

“I don’t think there’s anything that we don’t know about each other, we know each other’s strengths and each other’s weaknesses.

“If one is feeling down, the other one will be there to prop them up and make sure they’re OK. She’s like the sister I never had.

“I adore my brother, but I never had a sister and Holly is like my younger sister and that’s a lovely position to be in.”

Willoughby described her presenting partner as “somebody that gives great advice, somebody who’s loyal, somebody who makes you laugh and that you can return all of this by being there for them in return.”

The pair first hosted ITV’s Dancing on Ice together in 2006, with Willoughby then replacing Fern Britton on This Morning in September 2009.

Recalling her first live show, she revealed that she felt “so, so nervous” and was “holding on to Phil for dear life.”

She added: “I was just scared, scared, scared. I’d watched This Morning as a fan for many years before doing it, I didn’t want to be the one to mess it up.”

Schofield and Willoughby will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their This Morning partnership during tomorrow’s episode, which airs on ITV from 10.30am.
