This Morning's Phillip Schofield refuses to read out viewer's Elf on Shelf message

A startled Phillip Schofield refused to read out a This Morning viewer's Elf on the Shelf message, leaving viewers to speculate what was so bad about it.

In homes up and down the country across the world, elves have been making an appearance once again, with parents having the job of coming up with new ideas on what to do with the elf in the run up to Christmas.

While some parents relish the chance to get creative over the festive season to entertain their children, others struggle for inspiration, including the Queen of Crafting herself Stacey Solomon, who begged fans for some tips on Instagram on Tuesday.

Phillip and his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby invited viewers to send it their best Elf on the Shelf creations on Wednesday's show and were inundated with pictures.

Holly and Phillip looked down at the tablets in front of them to see some of the Elf on the Shelf submissions that had come in.

They both looked impressed by one viewer's shot of their Elves, Chippy and wife Bubbles, on top of their Christmas tree.

Phillip began to read the accompanying message, which said: "The next 23 nights will now consist of us getting into bed and realising we haven't..."

The presenter then paused, looked down at the tablet and reacted: "I don't think I'm going to read that out, cos that..."

He then said: "So those are the pictures of their elves," as Holly interjected: "Chippy and his wife!" before Phillip added: "Who are amazingly very involved in their Christmas."

Viewers at first wondered if the message was too rude to read out, before realising Phillip probably didn't want to ruin the Elf on the Shelf magic by revealing that the elves didn't just magically appear by themselves.

Holly then hastily moved things on by moving onto another elf that had been sent in as viewers continued to speculate.
