This Morning's Phillip Schofield offers to pay OAP's energy bill as they ring show in a panic

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield told a panic stricken caller that the show would pay her electricity bill after she told him she'd been 'left unable to eat or sleep' due to the worry over it.

On Thursday, Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby were joined by money expert Martin Lewis to take queries from viewers over a range of consumer matters.

And one those came from 73-year-old Patricia who told the presenters she'd been landed with a £701.85 bill from her old supplier after switching energy companies, saying: "I have never had one like that...ever!"

She admitted that she hadn't been sending electricity or gas readings to the companies who supply them as she "didn't know" how to do them.

Martin told her it sounded like she was using more than she thought and she should have "been paying more all along," which left her "in debt" to the company and having to make up for it.

Patricia then revealed she'd been left so worried about paying the bill that: "It's causing me not to eat or sleep."

Looking concerned as he listened to Patricia's story, Phillip swiftly replied: "No, no no no. Don't do that. Listen, one way or the other we'll fix this for you."

Glancing at Holly and Martin, Phillip assured her: "If the worst comes to the worst we'll pay it for you."

A shocked Patricia could then be heard telling him: ""Thank you very much. I'm so glad I got through to you."

Watching the distressing conversation at home, one viewer tweeted: "felt so sorry for Patricia this morning and her huge energy bill. Was lovely to see Martin Lewis offer to help and @Schofe and @hollywills offer to pay the bill. Melted my heart and made me want to help Patricia."
