This Morning's Phillip Schofield makes frank admission as he and Holly Willoughby return to show

Phillip Schofield made a frank admission live on air as he and Holly Willoughby returned to This Morning for the first time in a month on Monday.

The last time Phillip and Holly took the reins of the ITV daytime show was at the start of December as they signed off to take their usual festive break.

The duo always take time off This Morning to coincide with the school holidays and their most recent spell away from the show, saw them replaced by the likes of Vernon Kay, Josie Gibson, Rochelle Humes and Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, who took charge for an extended run last week.

Holly and Phillip's continued absence concerned fans who assumed they'd be back after the New Year Bank Holiday, but they were finally back behind the presenting desk on Monday.

And Phillip was very candid on how he thought their first show back might go. Welcoming viewers to his and Holly's first show of 2022, he remarked: "Brand new year for us.

"Obviously the team were all back last week, they did an amazing job, but we're back"

He then confessed: "We did actually say before hand we're not 100% sure we can remember how to do it, but here we go."

Holly replied: "I've only just put the lid on the Quality Street guys. You know the ones you really don't want, that are just there."

Phillip quizzed: "The yellow toffees?" to which Holly told him: "Full of yellow toffees! But I'm still eating them, still getting through 'em!"

Celebrating the duo's return, one fan took to Twitter to enthuse: "At last! Phil and Holly are back on This Morning," with another tweeting: "Its great to see you both back together Holly, Philip, best partnership on TV."
