This Morning's Phillip Schofield forced to apologise after Brian Cox swears on air

Phillip Schofield was forced to apologise after Brian Cox swore during an interview on today's This Morning.

The veteran actor appeared on Monday's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme to discuss the release of his new autobiography, Putting the Rabbit in the Hat .

However, the 75-year-old was mortified by his blunder which he let slip while reflecting on his memoirs.

He said: "It was very cathartic. Going back over the errors you've made in your life and the disasters that have happened.

"And also the opposite. You have to be truthful to who you are. I think that's one of the advantages of age.

"I'm 75 now and 'm not going to be p***ing around too much."

Presenters Holly and Phil erupted in hysterics at the exchange, before the 59-year-old host apologised for the gaffe.

He said: "Sorry about that."

Brian also apologised, before he laughed off his error.

The Succession star joked: "I will never say anything again. I promise you, never again."

Viewers of the show on Twitter were similarly left in stitches at the slip up.

Leanne posted, alongside laughing emojis: "“Not going to be p***ing around too much."

Chris laughed: "Brian Cox won't be p***ing about."
