This Morning's Phillip Schofield celebrates as guest ban lifted in 'momentous moment'

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield was left overjoyed by what he dubbed a 'momentous moment' as the show welcomed a showbiz guest into the studio for the first time in ages on Tuesday.

While show regulars like Matthew Wright and chef James Martin have been in the studio in recent months as coronavirus restrictions have eased slightly, as well as Piers Morgan, who joined Phillip and Holly direct from hosting Good Morning Britain next door, there has been a distinct absence of other guests.

But that all changed on Tuesday when Phillip and stand-in presenter Rochelle Humes were joined by Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi.

After a medley of the Quo's hits, including Rockin' All Over The World and Whatever You Want, played out on screen, Phillip shared his excitement at Francis being able to come into the This Morning studio for an interview.

Phillip told the legendary rocker: "I've got to say, this is a really momentous moment for us.

"Throughout the whole of lockdown; there was a time way back in the old days when we had...Steve Harley was amongst the last ones and I think KT Tunstall might have been in.

"Philip Glenister was in the studio and then it all got shut down. You are the first person we have seen in here from showbiz..." as Francis interrupted to joke: "You're going to have to try harder," as a chuckling Rochelle told him: "that's not true!"

Phillip continued: "I'm so glad it's you, it's a really big moment.

"How do you feel now, almost getting back into it?"

Francis admitted; "Half of you thinks 'yeah can't wait!' and the other thinks 'I'm not sure I can do it."

Francis had a huge reason for being on This Morning on Tuesday as he announced Status Quo's 2022 arena tour.

After revealing all, he added: "I was a bit dubious about coming in here, nervous about coming.

"You get here and it's fine, so it's good, you're back in your comfort zone."
